Detroit 2012: GM Announces 2013 Cadillac ATS

Cadillac’s CTS sedan, coupe and wagon range, as well as their enhanced V counterparts, have brought Cadillac up to BMW’s level.  The CTS-V has even bested cars well above its pay grade.  While the CTS was created to contend with BMW’s 5-Series sedan, Cadillac needed to do something about BMW’s volume-seller: The 3-Series.  Enter the Cadillac ATS, announced at this year’s Detroit auto show.  Combining rear-wheel drive, a sporting demeanor and an inviting interior, BMW just may have a fight on its hands.  Continue reading to see plenty of pictures and my breakdown of the upcoming 2013 Cadillac ATS.

2012 Honda Civic debuts at Detroit Auto Show

I don’t often show pre-production vehicles, but the “concept” label on the upcoming Honda Civic is a title for titles’ sake.  In reality, the car shown here will be released as-is to consumers in the Spring of this year.  Replacing the 2006-2011 model, the new Civic has a lot to work for.  Between its release and today, the current generation Civic has a lot more, and a lot better, competition.  Cars like the new Ford Focus, Hyundai’s Elantra and Chevrolet’s Cruze all bring more to the table.  Click past the jump to see my first impressions, pictures and the press release.

Reader Poll: Cadillac CTS versus BMW 3 or 5-Series?

With Cadillac releasing coupe and wagon variants of its popular CTS luxury sport sedan, I’ve started to wonder which of BMW’s cars is a better comparison: the 3-Series, which is a bit smaller, but priced similarly, or the 5-Series, which is a bit bigger, but priced about $10,000 higher?  Click past the jump for the tale of the tape and the Reader Poll.

Introducing the Chrysler 200

The Chrysler Sebring started out in the 1990s as a decent mid-sized sedan, with coupe and convertible variants added in.  Nowadays, it’s sales are slow and it’s the butt of many jokes.  Chrysler is looking to change that with the Chrysler 200 mid-sized sedan.  It will be replacing the long-in-the-tooth Sebring probably later this year, since it’s listed as a 2011 model.  Follow the jump for details and a few more teaser photos.
