For each new model year, truck manufacturers are one-upping each other, and 2011 was no exception, with Ford’s F-150 receiving a much-needed boost in the engine department. With that in mind, and me being in the market for a new pickup, I drove the “Big 3″ – Ford, GMC and RAM, and came up with a conclusive winner, which I ended up bring home to park in my own driveway. Two years ago, when I was starting up Road Reality, I reviewed a 2010 Ford F-150. It was a Lariat model with then-optional 5.4-liter V8. In that review, I said I was impressed. Since I was in the market for a full-size pickup truck and with a complete overhaul of the F-150′s engine options, a test drive of the new truck was in order. I also reviewed the 2011 GMC Sierra and test drove a 2011 RAM 1500, so the inevitable comparisons began in earnest – which you’ll find in an upcoming article. With that in mind, I recently got my hands on a 2011 GMC Sierra, and with very few changes expected for the 2012 model year, it’s safe to say that my mostly positive experience will be carried into next year as well. February was a great month for new-car sales, with the total volume up 21.28% over January, and almost 27% over February of 2010. Those are the overall numbers, but the general trend for February was that American car companies had a good time, while most of their overseas competitors struggled. Ever since Toyota’s massive recalls earlier this year, automakers are skittish when it comes to customer concerns. It no longer takes a long time nor a large amount of complaints before a recall is announced, which is why you see a lot of recall notices here on Road Reality. Chrysler and the NHTSA have released a new recall affecting almost 27,000 2010-2011 model year vehicles due to a faulty power steering hose. Much in the same vein as The Ford Collection, Chrysler opened up their own online store yesterday, including separate sites for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. In addition to t-shirts, mugs, you can buy a Chrysler-branded cigar humidor, Dodge Challenger die-cast model set, Jeep wine stopper and a Ram-branded Casio G-Shock watch. There are plenty of branded items there to show off your love for your favorite Chrysler brand, but where is the “Fiat Collection” web site?
