2011 Ford Mustang GT Gets EPA fuel rating, 17/26 Cty/Hwy

Not only do you get 412 horsepower and 390 foot-pounds of torque with your brand spanking new Mustang GT, with the previously reported 5.0-liter V8, you get decent fuel mileage to go with it!  Ford has announced that the Environmental Protection Agency rated its 2011 Mustang GT at 17 MPG City and 26 MPG Highway, when equipped with the manual transmission.  Automatic transmission-equipped cars get 18/25, City/Highway.

Update: 2011 Mustang V6 gets 31MPG, sets record

Not in the history of automobiles has a manufacturer created a car that produces 300+ horsepower and gets 30+ MPG.  Well, we can’t say that any more.  The 2011 Mustang V6 was recently tested by the EPA and found to get 31 MPG highway when equipped with an automatic transmission, 29 MPG when equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.  The city MPG for both transmissions is 19.

2011 Mustang V6: Motor Trend is taken for a ride

If you’ve been following Road Reality for a while, you saw the posts when the 2011 Mustang V6 and GT engines were announced, but up until now, nobody outside of Ford has driven or ridden in one.  Apparently Arthur St. Antione got to at least do the latter.  He went out to Ford’s Arizona proving ground, where he was driven around in a 2011 Mustang V6.  Click through the jump for more details and my take on it.

Green with Envy: 2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition

At 2009′s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas, GM showed off some special edition Camaros, promising to bring the most popular ones to market.  Well, they’ve finally come through on that promise, by building the Synergy Special Edition.  It’s the V6 Camaro, with the Camaro Convenience and Connectivity Package (Bluetooth, USB, iPod connections, plus remote start on automatic-transmission equipped cars), and lots of green, for $26,790. Under the Hood: 2011 Mustang V6

When someone pictures a Ford Mustang, they picture a brawny V8, dual exhaust, and smoking tires.  In the background, the V6 quietly saves its owner on insurance and at the pump, and is actually Ford’s bread-and-butter Mustang.  For years, it’s had to make do with 6-cylinder engines that had neither the horsepower nor the refinement to truly compete in the sports coupe arena.  But that’s all about to change.
