Ford’s sale of Volvo: Complete. Geely’s cost: $1.8 Billion

Well, it’s finally happened – Ford completed the sale of Volvo to Geely, the Chinese automaker.  Geely forked over 1.8 billion, according to a press release by Ford.  Most of it was in cash, but there was also a $200 million “note” involved.

2011 Lincoln MKX: EPA Certification

This week, the EPA gave Ford the results from its fuel economy tests on the new 2011 Lincoln MKX, and the numbers are great for a crossover of its size: 19/26 city/highway, with a combined 21 mpg.  That’s for the front-wheel drive (FWD) model, so expect the all-wheel drive (AWD) model to get 17/24 city/highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Detroit Reveal: 2011 Lincoln MKX

At Detroit this week, Lincoln showed off the redesigned 2011 MKX.  Showcasing Lincoln’s version of the MyFord Touch customization setup we reported on earlier, the MKX also includes more luxurious materials than the previous iteration.  In addition to the features found on MyFord Touch, MyLincoln Touch will also banish buttons from the dashboard, replacing them with slider controls.  Volume, radio station-seeking and other functions will be controlled by sliding controls on the 8″ touch screen and center stack.  Check out the pictures for its appearance, and once the 2011 MKX hits showrooms, we’ll be sure and have a hands-on review of it.  Hit the jump for more photos.
