There are lots of entrants in the ever-popular luxury crossover/SUV arena. Infiniti jumped in several years ago with their first generation FX series. It seems every automaker is getting caught by the recall bug these days, and Nissan isn’t immune. According to reports, the automaker is recalling 2.1 million vehicles worldwide, with around 762,000 of them in North America. The recall involves a wide range of vehicles, from the Cube to the Titan, and centers around a faulty ignition switch, which can cause the engine to stall and/or not restart. In mid-August, Infiniti announced that they were bringing the G25 to our shores. Not much was known then, but more details have surfaced. Also, whereas I was under the impression that the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine from the Altima would power the G25, I was wrong. It’s a 2.5-liter V6 that will be under the hood of the G25, which will be much better suited to handle all-wheel drive duties. The G25 sedan starts at $30,950, complete with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Read on for more details and the full press release.

Branched off of the Nissan brand, Infiniti has traditionally given Nissan’s vehicles nicer interiors and better accoutrements, while keeping the sporty, fun-to-drive feeling alive. In a not-so-surprising move, Infiniti announced today that they’ll be importing the G25 to our shores starting with the 2011 model year. Click past the jump for more details.
What is it with braking systems on vehicles these days? Have automakers lost their minds? I believe it to be a combination of trying to save money and the mainstream application of “drive by wire” systems, where computers and sensors replace traditional hydraulics and cables. Nissan is the latest automaker to initiate a recall for its brakes, as well as faulty fuel gauges.
