Grand Cherokee Overland Summit

Chrysler announced this week that two of its Jeep vehicles would be getting “premium” editions, going on sale in the next month or so. The first is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit, which packs a lot of goodies into one trim level. The second is the Jeep Liberty Jet, which adds an upscale appearance to Jeep’s smaller, but fully capable off-roader. Follow the jump for the details, pictures and press release.

Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Interior

Designed to fulfill the wishes of Jeep buyers looking for more luxury, the Grand Cherokee Overland Summit features real burl wood trim on the doors, steering wheel, dashboard and other places. Berber floor mats cushion the soles of your feet, while you’re sitting on uniquely-covered heated and cooled seats which feature Nappa leather. Outside, the GCOS features a unique front end and 20″ polished aluminum wheels, to set it apart from its more pedestrian brethren. The GCOS will also feature adaptive cruise control, blind spot, rear cross-path and frontal collision warning systems.

Pricing for the GCOS will start at $42,495 for 4×2 models and $45,995 for 4×4 versions, not including the $780 destination charge.

Jeep Liberty Jet

The “Jet” package will be an option package on top of Sport and Limited trim levels of the 2011 Jeep Liberty, and contains mostly appearance-related upgrades. Four colors will be available, including, “Bright Silver, Dark Charcoal, Brilliant Black and Blackberry.” In addition to the requisite unique body work all around, the Liberty Jet gets special badging and 20″ polished aluminum wheels.

Inside, the Liberty Jet gets a 9-speaker sound system and a few other upgrades and options. Mostly though, it’s an outside appearance package, albeit one consumers apparently asked for. The Jet package will retail for $1,499 on top of Sport models and $995 on top of Limited models.

From Chrysler’s press release, they say consumers asked for the trim levels, so it’ll be interesting to see how many Grand Cherokee and Liberty vehicles roll off the assembly line with these option packages added on.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit

Available in a new, exclusive Rugged Brown paint scheme, sporting a unique front appearance that includes a fully chromed grille and fog lamp bezels, and riding on 20-inch bright, polished aluminum wheels, the Overland Summit model elevates the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to new levels of indulgence and refinement for drivers seeking the ultimate personal driving statement in a premium sport-utility vehicle.

Inside, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee features unique Black Olive burl real wood trim blended into the instrument panel. The distinctive polished trim wraps into the upper panels of both the front and rear doors surrounding passengers with the highest levels of craftsmanship. The wood trim is also used on the standard, leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel.

The Grand Cherokee Overland Summit boasts a Black lower and New Saddle upper interior trim color, along with saddle-color Nappa heated and ventilated leather seats – with perforated inserts, accent piping and unique stitching – and Berber floor mats with Black and Chestnut accent binding.

Standard on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit is the Advanced Warning System and Adaptive Cruise Control group, which consists of Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-path detection systems.

In addition to the unique Rugged Brown exterior color, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit is also available in Mineral Gray, White Gold and Black.

2011 Jeep Liberty Jet

The 2011 Jeep Liberty Jet appearance package is available on Liberty Sport and Limited models.

Exterior features on the new Liberty Jet include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels fitted with P245/50R20 all-season tires; chrome lower fascia opening, body side moldings, license plate brow, roof rails and mirror caps; blacked-out headlamps; and unique ‘Jet’ badging. The new 2011 Liberty Jet is offered in four exterior colors: Bright Silver, Dark Charcoal, Brilliant Black and Blackberry.

Inside, the Jeep Liberty Jet edition boasts a 9-speaker premium audio system; a standard security system that includes supplemental side-curtain air bags and Park Sense rear park assist; available Dark Slate Gray leather seating with accent stitching; heated front seats, available with six-way power function for the driver and two-way for the passenger; leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls; and one-touch up/down power windows.

The Liberty Jet option package is available at a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,495 on Liberty Sport models and $995 on Liberty Limited models.

Green with Envy: 2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition

At 2009′s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas, GM showed off some special edition Camaros, promising to bring the most popular ones to market. Well, they’ve finally come through on that promise, by building the Synergy Special Edition. It’s the V6 Camaro, with the Camaro Convenience and Connectivity Package (Bluetooth, USB, iPod connections, plus remote start on automatic-transmission equipped cars), and lots of green, for $26,790. The special edition Camaro is painted in Synergy Green, with “Cyber Grey” stripes running the length of the car. Sterling silver-painted wheels and a standard spoiler complete the exterior modifications. Inside, green stitching on the jet black cloth seats, shift knob, center console and steering wheel let you know you’ve got something different from regular Camaros. Green inserts on the door panels and instrument cluster round out the changes on the interior.

While there aren’t any performance modifications done to the Synergy Special Edition Camaro, it’s sure to sell, as GM is only building them in “limited numbers,” whatever that means, and only from February to May of this year. It’s good to see a special edition sports car that doesn’t cost a ton of money, especially in this economy. After losing the sales race to the Ford Mustang in 2009, GM could use all the extra sales they can get, especially once the 2011 Mustang hits, with comparable horsepower to the current Camaro.
