Super Bowl XLVI Ads: Chevy Silverado Takes on the Apocalypse

GM is breaking out the big guns for this year’s Super Bowl, with an ad directly aimed at the Ford F-150.  The ad claims that the Chevrolet Silverado is the “… most dependable and longest lasting full size truck on the road…” and that if you drive an F-150, you won’t survive for the post-apocalyptic world.  This brought to mind another video I’ve seen on YouTube, wherein a Ford F-150 drives away after being involved in a dealership fire.  Click past the jump for Chevrolet’s ad and the F-150 video I found.

Comparison Test: 2011 GMC Sierra vs Ford F-150

For each new model year, truck manufacturers are one-upping each other, and 2011 was no exception, with Ford’s F-150 receiving a much-needed boost in the engine department.  With that in mind, and me being in the market for a new pickup, I drove the “Big 3″ – Ford, GMC and RAM, and came up with a conclusive winner, which I ended up bring home to park in my own driveway.  Continue Reading to see how things shaped up.

LA Auto Show 2011: 2013 Ford Mustang

So, I’ve already shown pictures and gone through the big changes for the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and now it’s time to delve into its more mass-market brother, the Mustang (and Mustang GT).  With a refresh in 2010 and new engines for the 2011 model year, the Mustang isn’t due for another big redesign until 2015.  Until then, a few minor modifications will have to suffice.  Read on for pictures and details, as well as Ford’s press release.

Buick’s Resurgence Continues with all-new Verano

Part of making and keeping an automotive brand viable is introducing new cars to its lineup.  The built-in mechanism for this is that each generation of a car model gets bigger than its predecessor.  This leads to an opening beneath what was once your entry-level car, for a new entry-level car.  For the new Buick, that car was the Regal, but now the Chevrolet Cruze has debuted, giving Buick a workable platform to jump off of.  Read on for details and pictures of the new Buick Verano.

Cadillac Escalade – Gone in 14 Seconds? (w/video)

Fourteen seconds.  That’s about the time it takes to unlock, get into, and start my car.  For car thieves, that’s how long it takes to steal a late-model GM SUV – including the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban – says a report from Detroit’s WXYZ, an ABC affiliate.  The reason the vehicles are so easy to steal?  They’re missing safety and theft deterrent features found on almost all cars these days.  Continue past the jump for a more in-depth explanation and WXYZ’s own video.

Motor Trend’s Car Of The Year for 2011? The Chevrolet Volt, of course!

The people at Motor Trend have spent some serious time with GM’s technology-laden electric car, the Chevrolet Volt, and it’s no surprise that they love it.  They even tested it and got 127 mpg out of it.  Well, now they’ve crowned it king of the hill for 2011, bestowing upon it their coveted Car Of The Year award.
