So, I’ve already shown pictures and gone through the big changes for the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and now it’s time to delve into its more mass-market brother, the Mustang (and Mustang GT). With a refresh in 2010 and new engines for the 2011 model year, the Mustang isn’t due for another big redesign until 2015. Until then, a few minor modifications will have to suffice. Read on for pictures and details, as well as Ford’s press release.

After the “Terminator” Cobra was discontinued when its platform was replaced for the 2005 model year, a gap was left in Ford’s Mustang lineup. Starting with model year 2007, Ford’s Special Vehicles Team (SVT) began building the Shelby GT500. Based on a Ford Mustang, but tweaked from hood to rear spoiler, the GT500 has held the spot of top factory Mustang. At the LA Auto Show this month, Ford pulled the wraps off of the 2013 Shelby GT500. It’s been a great first year for Road Reality, so I’d like to take a minute or three to share some of the highlights of the past year. At the same time, I’d like to thank you, my readers, for your continued input, suggestions, and of course questions. Without you, it wouldn’t be nearly as rewarding to run this site!
It looks like one DC policeman didn’t get the word that streets in our nation’s capital were being closed for filming of Transformers 3, the latest installment in a kids-toy-turned-movie-franchise. He was driving with lights and sirens, but as Fox 5 reports, the light he ran was red. It’s D.C. Police policy that all emergency vehicles at least do a rolling stop at red lights to ensure that no cross traffic is in the way. The car he struck? Bumblebee, a new Chevrolet Camaro. Filming has been moved to Arlington while D.C. does a “Safety Investigation.” Click past the jump for the video.
Update: 10/12 – DC Announced the new schedule for road closures. See the details after the jump.

You asked for it, and it’s coming: GM announced this week that the Camaro Convertible will be produced! It’ll be a 2011 model, joining its hard-top brethren, which went on sale as 2010 models. This is a year sooner than a lot of the rumor mills had predicted, and it can’t come soon enough for fans of the iconic muscle car. Only the picture to the left has been released, but the base price of $30,000, including $850 destination, should whet potential buyers’ appetites. Click past the jump for the press release.
