Introduced for the 2011 model year, the spiritual successor to the Boss 302 of the late 1960s and early 1970s combined speed and handling with Ford’s Mustang GT.  The result was nothing short of amazing, with comparisons to BMW’s M3, among others.  For the 2013 model year, Ford is cranking the Boss 302 up another notch, mostly in its appearance.  Read on for more details and Ford’s press release.

2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Updates

According to the 2012 Boss 302 minisite, the iconic nameplate will be returning “Spring 2011.”  If Ford has timed the 2012 Mustang to show up at the same time as it did for the 2011 model, then late March to early April will be when the Boss 302 shows up as well.  More pictures follow, after the jump.

Ford announces 2012 Boss 302!

With the 2011 Ford Mustang GT being powered by a 5.0-liter V8 (302 cubic inches), the rumormill has been speculating that Ford would release a “Boss 302″ Mustang, and for once they were right!  Today, Ford announced two Boss 302′s; a “base” Boss 302, and a track-ready version called the Boss 302 Laguna Seca.  Click past the jump for more details, a video and a smorgasbord of high-resolution photos!
