16,000 Ford F-Series Pickups Recalled over Transmission Concern

Even the best-selling pickup truck in America can have a bad day, and this is the F-Series’ day. Ford is recalling a bit more than 16,000 F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 trucks. The issue is the switch that prevents a driver from shifting from Park into Neutral or Drive. Normally, it stops drivers from shifting out of Park unless the brake is pressed, but apparently some faulty switches were installed into the affected vehicles.

Toyota’s Problems Continue: New Brake System Recall

If Toyota were a person, he or she would need some anti-depressants at this point. After a multitude of recalls earlier this year, another big one is hitting the airwaves. This time, it’s for the brake master cylinder, which amplifies the pressure you put on the brake pedal, making it easier for you to stop your car. In certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles, however, a seal is going bad, leaking out the brake fluid, which leads to the “brake warning lamp” illuminating on your dash. Lexus announces the 2011 ES 350

Lexus announced today the changes for its 2011 ES 350 luxury sedan. The ES will start at $35,525, an increase of $350 over 2010 models, and no longer does it require premium unleaded fuel. Instead, it will get 19/27 city/highway mpg on regular fuel. The aforementioned change is the big one, and the rest are fairly minor tweaks. Official: Lexus Engine Recall affects 138,000 vehicles

Following on the footsteps of earlier announcements, a clarifying announcement was made by Toyota regarding faulty engines in some of their Lexus vehicles. Today, Toyota officially notified the NHTSA of its intent to recall about 138,000 vehicles in the United States, for a problem which can cause the engine to stall while driving. The automaker said that most owners who are affected will notice a rough idle or louder than normal engine noise. Read on for my analysis and specific models being recalled.

In the pursuit of quieter and quieter cars, I test drive a lot of different ones. I suffer from Tinnitus, also known as “ringing of the ears.” It’s a bothersome thing, and some cars more than others will aggravate my condition, to the point of headaches and earaches. The Lincoln MKS I had didn’t bother my tinnitus at all, but now my 2010 Maxima (review pending) does. So yesterday, I went out and test drove some cars. A couple of these are known for their quietness, another couple of them I just wanted to compare with. How did I fare? Click past the jump to find out!
