2004 Nissan Frontier
In a recent press release by Nissan, two recalls have been initiated. The first is for the Frontier truck and Xterra SUV, for faulty steering linkages. The second recall is for the Sentra, and involves the battery cables. All told, around 513,000 vehicles in the US will be recalled, starting this month. 2005 Nissan Titan
It seems every automaker is getting caught by the recall bug these days, and Nissan isn’t immune. According to reports, the automaker is recalling 2.1 million vehicles worldwide, with around 762,000 of them in North America. The recall involves a wide range of vehicles, from the Cube to the Titan, and centers around a faulty ignition switch, which can cause the engine to stall and/or not restart. Since Toyota announced their recall of some 600,000 Sienna minivans, I’ve gotten a ton of feedback on this issue from readers, so I’ve been calling Toyota regularly looking for the resolution to this issue.

2005 BMW 750Li
If you own a late-model 5,6, or 7-series BMW or a Rolls-Royce Phantom, your car may be part of a recall being initiated by BMW this week. The recall affects 198,000 cars from model years 2002 to 2010. In the recalled cars, a leak can develop in the power braking system, leading to lessened braking assistance. While this would not cause a full loss of braking ability, the driver of an affected vehicle will have to use more pressure on the brake pedal to bring their car to a full and complete stop. It’s been 5 months, and as several readers have pointed out, Toyota still hasn’t come up with a fix for the spare tires falling off of 1998-2010 Sienna minivans. In the mean time, I’ve placed a call to Toyota’s PR department and am expecting a response shortly.

2000 Windstar
It just seems like it’s been “Recall Week” in the US Auto industry. In a late-week press release reported by Automotive News, Ford is recalling 575,000 of its Windstar minivans, built from 1998-2003, for a problem with the rear axle. The affected people movers were sold in the US and Canada, and are only from states that use road salt in the winter months to combat snow and ice. The road salt causes corrosion, which weakens the rear axle, which can lead to it breaking, possibly causing an accident.
