16,000 Ford F-Series Pickups Recalled over Transmission Concern

Even the best-selling pickup truck in America can have a bad day, and this is the F-Series’ day.  Ford is recalling a bit more than 16,000 F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 trucks.  The issue is the switch that prevents a driver from shifting from Park into Neutral or Drive.  Normally, it stops drivers from shifting out of Park unless the brake is pressed, but apparently some faulty switches were installed into the affected vehicles.

128,000 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans Recalled over Wheel Stud Issue

Last week, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Ford is recalling over 128,000 Ford Fusions and its sister car, the Mercury Milan, because of a problem with the wheel studs.  The recall only effects Fusions and Milans with steel wheels, not alloy ones.  Wheel studs are threaded bolts by which a vehicle’s wheels are attached.  They run through the brake hub, and if enough of them break, the wheel could literally fall off of the car.  Continue reading for more details and the NHTSA’s press release.

Motor Trend Announces 2012 Truck Of The Year

Well, it’s award time in the automotive industry!  Last week, Car & Driver announced its Top 10 Cars of 2012, and this week, Motor Trend has announced their Truck Of The Year winner, the Ford F-150.  With around 650,000 variations, not including paint colors, there’s something for everyone.  The F-150′s configurational highlights include four engine choices, three bed lengths, three cab lengths, and a myriad of creature comforts and capability-enhancing options.  The engine which gave the F-150 a leg up in the competition was the EcoBoost V6, with its twin-turbo and direct injection technologies.  Its power and fuel economy bested that of the V8s in its rivals.  Click on over to Motor Trend to read their press release.

LA Auto Show 2011: The 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Introduced for the 2011 model year, the spiritual successor to the Boss 302 of the late 1960s and early 1970s combined speed and handling with Ford’s Mustang GT.  The result was nothing short of amazing, with comparisons to BMW’s M3, among others.  For the 2013 model year, Ford is cranking the Boss 302 up another notch, mostly in its appearance.  Read on for more details and Ford’s press release.

LA Auto Show 2011: 2013 Ford Mustang

So, I’ve already shown pictures and gone through the big changes for the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and now it’s time to delve into its more mass-market brother, the Mustang (and Mustang GT).  With a refresh in 2010 and new engines for the 2011 model year, the Mustang isn’t due for another big redesign until 2015.  Until then, a few minor modifications will have to suffice.  Read on for pictures and details, as well as Ford’s press release.
