How-To: Remove unwanted stick-on badges (featuring the 2010 Nissan Maxima

Dealers advertise all the time, even when you’re not looking.  Those license plate frames, badges or decals they put on your car when they sell it, those are advertisements.  Any time someone sees your car, they’ll also notice where you bought it.  Sometimes, such as the case with my 2010 Maxima, Nissan saw fit to put the model name in chrome block letters on the left-hand side of the trunk lid, but nothing on the right-hand side to balance it out.  Click past the jump for a painless way of removing unwanted badges.  As a demonstration, I will be removing the letters that spell “MAXIMA” on the trunk lid of my own car.

What do you look for in a car?

There are a lot of things to think about when buying a car, and most people focus on the different aspects of the “deal.”  This includes the monthly payment, how much they want to finance, how much money they want or can afford to put down on it, or what the best finance rate they can get is.  I’m here to talk about some of the other things to look for, such as driving dynamics and the myriad of options available on today’s technology-laden automobiles.

Jay Leno’s Garage: 2011 Ford Mustang GT

Jay Leno may be known for The Tonight Show, but outside of that, he’s known for his web show, Jay Leno’s Garage.  This week, Jay took out a 2011 Ford Mustang GT, and put it through a fairly thorough test drive, including freeways, corners, and even a burnout.  He does a walk-around with the car, showing off some of its features, and he harps on the 412-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine a lot.  Jay Leno has a 65 Mustang GT350, one of the faster variants from the 1960′s, and he apparently loves driving it.  After driving the 2011 model, he agrees, and even goes as far as comparing it to pricier cars from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.  Click past the jump to see the video.

Video: MythBusters crash cars for science

MythBusters Host Jamie Hyneman

On last night’s MythBusters, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman wrecked a bunch of cars.  Why, you ask?  All in the name of science.  In a previous episode, Jamie said that two cars hitting each other at 50mph was the same as one car hitting an immovable object at 100mph.  Viewers wrote letters to the pair of hosts, complaining that Jamie was incorrect.  Read on for the videos and more synopsis.
