Ford’s Fusion, which debuted in the 2006 model year, was a big milestone for Ford. It marked the beginning of a turnaround for Ford’s car division, which lost its way after the much-lauded Taurus became a dinosaur in the mid-sized sedan market. Since the Taurus/Five Hundred had moved up to the full-size sedan market, a new mid-sized sedan was called for, especially one which would be competitive against offerings from Honda and Toyota. The Fusion has been a great success, especially since its 2010 refresh, and for 2013, Ford is pulling out all the stops with its redesign. The current-generation Honda Civic has been on sale since 2005 as a 2006 model. That’s a long time for any car to go without a full redesign, the 2009 visual changes not withstanding. For 2009, the main changes were the front and rear bumpers, as well as a new wheel design. For the 2012 model, it was expected that Honda would release a fully new design. Based on the pictures, Honda is playing it safe with their new bread-and-butter commuter car. Read on for more details, pictures and the full press release from Honda.
At long last, the Chrysler 300 is getting an update! Since its introduction in 2005 model year, it’s seen only minor changes, but now we see the 2011 Chrysler 300 with its redesigned interior and exterior. Keeping the same general shape, the new sheetmetal isn’t so much revolutionary as it is evolutionary, which should be a good thing for the Fiat-run domestic automaker. One of the last to be announced, the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan is finally being shown off by Chrysler. Similar to its Chrysler Town & Country twin, the Grand Caravan is getting its mid-cycle refresh. Slightly redesigned bodywork and Dodge’s new and greatly-improved interior show up, as does the new Pentastar V6. Click past the jump for the requisite details, pictures and press release.
Dodge continues the complete revamp of its product lineup with the Avenger mid-size sedan. The current generation has been on sale since 2008, so it’s time for a mid-cycle refresh. That’s where things get interesting. The Avenger shares platform and parts with the Chrysler Sebring, which is being replaced by the Chrysler 200. That opens up a whole slew of upgrades for the Dodge. Click past the jump for the details, press release and pictures.
Continuing its complete model makeover for 2011, Chrysler announced the changes to its venerable Town & Country minivan, the direct descendant of the original minivan, the Dodge Caravan. The new “Pentastar” V6 will power it, getting better fuel economy and more power at the same time. Standard safety features now total 40, including Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, which help with lane changes and backing up, respectively. The other big change is the interior – improved for 2011, like all the other Chrysler products we’ve seen so far. Click past the jump for high-resolution photos of the updated Town & Country.
