Quick Link: Toyota Sienna Recall

I have had dozens of responses from readers of Road Reality regarding their minivan and Toyota’s lack of a solution for the spare tire corrosion problem which prompted a recall in April of this year, so I went ahead and created a link at the top of the site so anybody affected by this recall can gain quick access to any information I have posted about it.

Thanks to all those who have contacted me about the issue, and if you’d like to send me photos and your experience so far concerning this issue, you can email me directly.

GM Recalling 2010 Cadillac SRX Over Fire Concerns

The 2010 Cadillac SRX has already had one safety recall, and now it has another.  A total of 3,996 SRX crossovers, built in December of 2009, are being recalled because of a possibility of fire.  An unattended SRX caught fire when its power steering lines were damaged, which leaked fluid onto “hot engine parts,” according to the press release.  This caused a fire in the engine compartment.  No accidents or injuries have been reported, and General Motors believes that this issue is limited to only 2 or 3 vehicles, but is recalling almost 4,000 of them just to be safe.  Click past the jump for the press release.

Honda and Isuzu Joint Recall over Suspension Corrosion

2002 Honda Passport

In the latter part of the 1990s, Honda and Isuzu had a joint effort to create SUVs, namely the Honda Passport and Isuzu Rodeo.  The Isuzu Axiom used a lot of underpinnings for the aforementioned SUVs, so it too suffers from the same malady causing the recall.  It turns out that vehicles exposed to “highly corrosive materials,” such as the road salt used in more northern states, experience premature wear and possible breaking of the rear suspension brackets.  Click past the jump for the model years, more details, and the press release.

BMW announces Recall of 198,000 V8 and V12-powered Cars

2005 BMW 750Li

If you own a late-model 5,6, or 7-series BMW or a Rolls-Royce Phantom, your car may be part of a recall being initiated by BMW this week.  The recall affects 198,000 cars from model years 2002 to 2010.  In the recalled cars, a leak can develop in the power braking system, leading to lessened braking assistance.  While this would not cause a full loss of braking ability, the driver of an affected vehicle will have to use more pressure on the brake pedal to bring their car to a full and complete stop.  Read on for the press release and complete list of affected vehicles.
