It might’ve had a name change. It might’ve gone under the Ram brand. But no, the 2011 Dodge Durango remains a Dodge, and the new model retains its predecessor’s muscle and most of its abilities. Though it’s now built on a unit-body chassis like the 2011 Ford Explorer, the new Durango can still tow – up to 6,200 lbs with the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 and 7,400 lbs with the Hemi V8. This week, Ford announced a whole lot of details about the upcoming 2011 Explorer SUV, including photos, technology and capability. They spent a lot of time talking about fuel efficiency and high technology, which I’ll go into after the break, followed by a high-resolution image gallery.
Ford debuted a new safety technology dubbed Curve Control, which works to help the driver control their vehicle in curves. Curve Control helps drivers when they enter a curve too fast, slowing the vehicle up to 10 mph in 1 second, by reducing engine power and using “smart braking” to apply brakes to any or all of the 4 wheels on the vehicle.
In the pursuit of quieter and quieter cars, I test drive a lot of different ones. I suffer from Tinnitus, also known as “ringing of the ears.” It’s a bothersome thing, and some cars more than others will aggravate my condition, to the point of headaches and earaches. The Lincoln MKS I had didn’t bother my tinnitus at all, but now my 2010 Maxima (review pending) does. So yesterday, I went out and test drove some cars. A couple of these are known for their quietness, another couple of them I just wanted to compare with. How did I fare? Click past the jump to find out!
Now in its second year of production, the aptly named Ford Flex fits two voids in Ford’s lineup – it’s both a minivan and crossover. The former term is a dirty word in the automotive marketplace these days, unlike the latter, which usually includes all-wheel drive vehicles, sized like SUVs but closer to the ground. While it may not be as tall as full-size SUVs, it surely provides the same amount of room, if not more. So how does the Flex drive and execute its duties? Read on to find out.
The Chrysler 300 started its life in 2005, the successor to the 300M and Concorde. At the time, Daimler-Benz had controlling interest in Chrysler, so they donated the Mercedes-Benz E Class’ underpinnings. The Chrysler 300 was most noted for its exterior styling, reminiscent of the “gangster” cars from the 1930′s and 1940′s, with it’s “gun slit” windows, long hood and trunk. Since its introduction, the Chrysler 300 has yet to see a major refresh, only receiving minor styling, interior and engine modifications. How has the design of the 300 dated since it was first put on sale? Read on to find out.
