After a couple of days with the MSI GE75 Raider laptop I got, I can report that this thing has greatly sped up my daily tasks. Things like editing, playback, video rendering, and creating special effects within DaVinci Resolve have all been much faster!
So much so that I did some more tests (as compared with my previous laptop):
- File copying: about 2x as fast (2-3GB per file)
- Tracking in the DR Fusion tab: 7x as fast (21fps vs. 2.7fps)
- Rendering: about 5x as fast (2.1hrs versus .55hrs)
- Boot-up: <30 seconds vs. 1.5 minutes
That’s a serious bump in performance, wouldn’t you say?
I still haven’t gotten used to the weirdly-spaced arrow keys on the keyboard, but that’s a minor gripe given the speed increase I’m seeing!
