Comparison Test: 2011 GMC Sierra vs Ford F-150

For each new model year, truck manufacturers are one-upping each other, and 2011 was no exception, with Ford’s F-150 receiving a much-needed boost in the engine department.  With that in mind, and me being in the market for a new pickup, I drove the “Big 3″ – Ford, GMC and RAM, and came up with a conclusive winner, which I ended up bring home to park in my own driveway.  Continue Reading to see how things shaped up.

Review: 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost Lariat

Two years ago, when I was starting up Road Reality, I reviewed a 2010 Ford F-150.  It was a Lariat model with then-optional 5.4-liter V8.  In that review, I said I was impressed.  Since I was in the market for a full-size pickup truck and with a complete overhaul of the F-150′s engine options, a test drive of the new truck was in order.  I also reviewed the 2011 GMC Sierra and test drove a 2011 RAM 1500, so the inevitable comparisons began in earnest – which you’ll find in an upcoming article.  It may be a spoiler, but I brought the Ford F-150 home for good, trading in my 2010 Nissan Maxima.  Continue reading for a full-on review of Ford’s latest F-150.

128,000 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans Recalled over Wheel Stud Issue

2010 Mercury Milan

Last week, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Ford is recalling over 128,000 Ford Fusions and its sister car, the Mercury Milan, because of a problem with the wheel studs.  The recall only effects Fusions and Milans with steel wheels, not alloy ones.  Wheel studs are threaded bolts by which a vehicle’s wheels are attached.  They run through the brake hub, and if enough of them break, the wheel could literally fall off of the car.  Continue reading for more details and the NHTSA’s press release.
