SFGate Ranks Hybrid cars by Years to Payoff

So, you want to save the environment or lighten your gasoline expense?  Naturally, you look to the many hybrid vehicles out there.  Most of the major players currently have hybrid models on sale.  In the near future, there will be a bevy of smaller players joining in on the fun.  In the mean time, SFGate has ranked 7 of the most popular hybrids by the number of years until you “break even.”  Click past the jump for more info.

The number of years a hybrid takes to “pay off” is how long it takes to save on enough gas to pay for its premium over a conventionally-powered car.  In SFGate’s calculations, the Ford Fusion Hybrid came away the winner at 5.6 years, followed by its sister car, the Mercury Milan Hybird at 13 years.  The turkey in this shoot?  The Nissan Altima Hybrid, at 21 years to payoff.  Click here to read the article in full.
