Fun Stuff: Top 10 Worst Cars for a Blind Date

The folks over at Winding Road put together a list of their top 10 worst cars for a blind date, and it’s humorous to say the least!  If you own one of these vehicles, keep in mind that they aren’t being serious, except for the E-series Ford van.  Click here or on the image below to view the list.

A Supercar like non other: the Lexus LF-A

Lexus has long been rumored to be creating their own supercar.  The Japanese luxury brand which was created by Toyota, and first brought cars to the US in 1989, has finally shown pictures of it, and anyone lucky enough to be in Los Angeles this week will be able to see it up close and personal.

Wrap-up: 2009 L.A. Auto Show

With so many cars having been introduced this year at the L.A. Auto Show, A good synopsis of what’s been going on this week is called for, rather than a lot of details that won’t make a huge difference in your buying decisions in the next 12 months.  That said, we’ve reported on some of the cars below (you can click on their name to read Road Reality’s report), but here’s a list of cars I think are going to make a splash when they go on sale, in alphabetical order, followed by a description for each car:

2011 Chevrolet Volt
2011 Ford Fiesta
2011 Hyundai Sonata
2011 Mazda Mazda2

2011 Toyota Sienna
2010 Volvo S60

Review: 2010 Ford F-150

2010 F-150 Profile

Ford’s new 2010 F-150 is a direct shot at the recently redesigned Chevrolet and GMC trucks, as well as the new Dodge Ram.  I have yet to review the Chevy or Dodge, but the F-150 impresses.  For the last 15 years or so, American drivers have been switching from cars to trucks in droves, using them for more than just work.  Automotive manufacturers have responded by adding more and more and more creature comforts and giving them more car-like rides.  The fuel price spike in 2008 sent a lot of these buyers scrambling for hybrids and compacts, but many American drivers still need their trucks, and Ford has stepped up  to the plate with a more refined ride and a redesigned interior.  Ford hopes to keep truck buyers in the Ford family, as well as draw shoppers from competing brands (GM, Dodge and Toyota) with the new F-150, but have they created a compelling vehicle to keep the F-150 on top of the truck heap?

Dirty Words: Fuel Mileage

Fuel mileage is still a hot topic these days, over a year after the $4.00/gallon price spike.  Some people still don’t go on road trips or drive as much as they used to, but most people have gotten used to paying almost $3.00 per gallon of gasoline.  We seem to forget that only a couple of years ago, the price of gas was under $2.00, and closer to $1.50 in some states.

When looking at a new car, do you take its fuel mileage into account, or are you more concerned about its size, luxury, reviews, or some other reason?  Email me and let me know!

In the mean time, please let us know how important fuel mileage is to you when shopping for a car.

Micro Machines – Tiny Cars in the US?

Mini Cooper

In 2001, the Mini Cooper really brought the small car to America.  BMW, the current owner of the Mini brand, showed that Americans were willing to pay for a premium small car.  The Mini gets good gas mileage, has “go kart” handling, plenty of creature comforts, and sells for thousands more than its same-size siblings.
